Ogee, quatrefoil and fan pattern generator
The lattices of tiles, windows and wallpaper. Choose the ogee, the four-lobed quatrefoil or a row of overlapping fans, fill the cells or draw only their outlines, and export a seamless pattern as SVG, PNG or CSS.

Shapes from buildings
An ogee is a curve with two bends in opposite directions, an S-shape. Four of them make a pointed onion-like cell, the ogee arch known from Gothic and Islamic architecture, and a row of such cells makes the lattice that is common in Moroccan tile and in wallpaper.
A quatrefoil is a shape made of four lobes, a classic of Gothic tracery. Placed in a grid and made to overlap, the lobes form a trellis of diamonds. The fan, a half-circle ring of rays, appears in Art Deco design, in Japanese wave patterns, and in tile and fabric all over the world.
How the generator builds them
The ogee cell is drawn from four S-shaped curves, and neighboring cells share their edges, so the cells fit together exactly. The quatrefoil is built from four circular arcs that meet at the points between the lobes. Fans are circles laid in overlapping rows, drawn from top to bottom so that each row partly covers the one above.
In filled mode, a joint of your chosen width separates the cells, and the background color shows through it. In outline mode only the lines are drawn, which is the easiest way to get a delicate trellis. All three repeat exactly, so the tile is seamless.
What you can adjust
- Pattern — ogee, quatrefoil or fan.
- Ogee — the height of the cell and how strongly the sides curve.
- Quatrefoil — the roundness of the lobes and the size; above 1 the quatrefoils overlap.
- Fan — the number of rays and rings, and how much the rows overlap.
- Draw — filled cells with joints, or lines only, with an adjustable thickness.
- Colors — one color or alternating; any palette.
Export and use
Download the seamless tile as PNG or SVG, or copy a ready CSS background. The patterns you create are free to use, personally or commercially.
